THE LITTLE DETAILS
How to Print Puzzles: US Letter, A4 & Answer Keys
A clean sheet starts with the right paper setting.
US Letter or A4?
US Letter is 8.5 × 11 inches and is the default for the makers. A4 is 210 × 297 mm. Select the format matching the paper in your printer before downloading. Both versions contain the same puzzle, arranged to fit the chosen page.
Print at actual size
- Download the PDF and open it in your browser or PDF reader.
- Open Print and select the paper size used by the PDF.
- Choose actual size or 100% scaling. If your printer warns about margins, try fit to printable area and inspect the preview.
- Use portrait orientation. Make a single test print before producing a class set.
Keep answer keys separate
Word searches and mazes have a puzzle page and an answer page. Crosswords also include a clues page. Use the print dialog’s page range if you only want student pages. Avoid printing the answer key on the back of the puzzle if learners should not see it.
Bingo for groups
The ready-made bingo packs contain four cards and a caller checklist. The maker can create up to forty different cards per download. Give each person a different card and keep the caller pages with the organizer. Print single-sided for easier distribution. Cards are different arrangements; multiple players can still win at the same time.
Larger letters and clear lines
Choose the large-print word search or reduce the grid size for wider spacing. Do not print multiple pages per sheet if legibility is important. Black-and-white printing is sufficient; the solution shading is also visible in grayscale.
Printing the live preview
The maker’s Print preview button prints the displayed puzzle and crossword clues. Use Download PDF to get the full bingo batch or the separate answer key. If the solution is visible when you print the preview, that is what will be printed.
Try the large-print word search, or start with an easy maze.
